Careers

Are you
a donkey?
Don't apply.

We don't do donkeys or mediocrity. Other than that, we'd love to hear from you — especially if you're senior, restless, and looking for the firm you've been quietly trying to redesign in your head.

Who we're looking for

The shortlist.

You've spent the better part of a decade in a Big 4, a top-tier boutique, or in-house in Defence or Federal Government. You're good at what you do. You're not being stretched. The thing that drew you in originally has been quietly replaced by politics, timesheet maths, and PowerPoint.

You're a high-performing self-starter. You want some control over your growth. You're confident dealing with multi-faceted problems. You want flexible incentives, a motivating culture, and a sense that the work you do connects to something bigger than the chargeable hour.

Improving your family's outcomes drives you. You take that seriously. So do we.

  • Senior practitioners

Strategy, program management, procurement, cyber, risk & audit. 10+ years, ideally with Defence or Federal Government delivery.

  • Cleared

NV1 minimum for most roles. NV2 and above for the more interesting work. We'll support uplifts where the engagement justifies it.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity

And comfortable saying "I don't know yet" out loud.

  • Generous with knowledge

Value #5 isn't optional. "Teach a person to fish" is how we hire and how we promote.

  • Bring the bold ideas

If you're a cat with your good ideas (see value #3), this won't be a fun place.

What you get

The deal.

Senior, always

No leverage pyramid

You'll be on the work, with the client, not directing a team of juniors from a steering committee chair.

Skin in the game

Flexible incentives

We're open to a range of commercial structures — equity-track, project-share, profit-share. Talk to us about what would actually motivate you.

Growth on purpose

Hero's-journey careers

We invest in skill swaps, sponsored training, conference attendance — including conferences that aren't in our industry. (Especially those.)

Beyond the billable hour

Richness that lasts

We measure a successful year in health, family, community and nation — not in chargeable hours. It's how we run the firm and it's a hiring criterion as much as a vision.

Flexible by default

Hybrid Canberra-based

Anchored in Canberra for the client work. Flexible on how, when and where you do the rest.

Belief alignment

A brand worth lending your name to

You should be proud to put us on your LinkedIn. We'll be proud to put you on ours.

Our hiring process

Four conversations.
No homework.

We don't run a 9-stage interview gauntlet. Four conversations: one to meet, one where you walk us through a piece of your own work, one where we share a real problem and you talk through how you'd approach it, and one to talk commercials and culture. No take-home test. No timed case. No assessment-centre theatre.

The catch: there's a riddle hidden in this site that — if you answer it correctly in the subject line of your enquiry — skips you straight past conversation #1.

The riddle:
Who wins when everyone else falls over?

If you've read our six values you already know. If you haven't, good news — that's two minutes of reading and an early sign of whether the brand is for you.

  • 01 — Coffee

Thirty minutes. Talk about you, talk about us, decide whether to keep going. Crack the riddle and you skip this round.

  • 02 — Show us your work

Bring us a piece of work you're proud of — sanitised however you need to. Walk us through it like we're the client who hired you. We talk craft, decisions, the bits you wish you'd done differently.

  • 03 — Tackle ours

We share a real (sanitised) problem from a recent engagement. You tell us how you'd think about it. We argue, we disagree, we test what good thinking looks like under pressure.

  • 04 — Deal

Commercials, expectations, culture. We answer all your questions, you answer all of ours.
